Chris Partridge was announced as a new member of the Seattle Seahawks coaching staff on Thursday afternoon. Partridge is set to serve as the franchise’s outside linebackers coach in 2024.

The hiring marks Partridge’s return to football after he was fired by Michigan last fall in the midst of the Wolverines’ sign-stealing scandal. Partridge later wrote in a statement that he had “no knowledge whatsoever” of “any in-person or illegal scouting.”

Partridge, who had been serving as Michigan’s linebackers coach, was replaced on the Wolverines’ staff by Rick Minter for the remainder of the 2023 season.

He now reunites with fellow former Michigan assistant Jay Harbaugh on the Seahawks’ coaching staff. Harbaugh is set to be Seattle’s special teams coordinator for the upcoming season. New Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald also has ties to the Wolverines, although Partridge was at Ole Miss during Macdonald’s lone season in Ann Arbor.

In addition to being Michigan’s linebackers coach in 2023, Partridge also had a previous stint with the Wolverines in a variety of other roles from 2015-19.

This will be Partridge’s first time coaching in the NFL.
