Saturday’s matchup between No. 14 Penn State and No. 5 Michigan doesn’t need any additional perks. The battle between two B1G East powers ranked in the top 15 is enough to create plenty of hype.

For Wolverines fans, though, there’s a little something extra added to the game. A former basketball star will be in the Big House for the conference clash.

Head coach Jim Harbaugh confirmed during his Monday press conference that Chris Webber, the star member of Michigan’s Fab Five, is returning to Ann Arbor this weekend. The former NBA star will serve as an honorary captain.

Webber and the University of Michigan have had a strained relationship since leaving the school in 1993 for the NBA. The school was handed sanctions by the NCAA after it was reported that the basketball star was receiving payments from a booster while playing for the Wolverines.

Harbaugh said he’s “very excited” to have Webber back on campus and serve as an honorary captain for Saturday’s game.

Michigan and Penn State will square off at 3:45 p.m. ET. The Wolverines are a perfect 5-0 in B1G play and 7-1 on the season. The Nittany Lions enter with a 6-2 record and are 3-2 in conference.
