There’s no doubt that Jim Harbaugh is the most polarizing figure in college football. Some people love him, some hate him. Some think he’s one of the top coaches in the sports, some believe he’s wildly overrated.

Mark Clay Travis in the latter of that conversation.

On Sunday, Travis wrote for his site, Outkick the Coverage, that Harbaugh was the nation’s most overrated coach, ripping the Michigan leader apart, saying that “his failure to find a decent quarterback in three years is entirely his own fault.”

Here’s what else Travis had to say about Harbaugh. Be warned, Michigan fans, this isn’t pretty:

Here are what some other top coaches did in year two or three at their respective schools: Nick Saban went 26-1 in years two and three at Alabama, notching a national championship in year three. Urban Meyer won national titles in year two at Florida and year three at Ohio State and has come in first or tied for first all five years at Ohio State. James Franklin won the Big Ten in year three at Penn State and won nine games in years two and three at freaking Vanderbilt. Chris Petersen won the Pac 12 in year three at Washington. Jimbo Fisher won the ACC in year three and Dabo Swinney won his division in year three at Clemson.

Putting Jim Harbaugh in the same category with these coaches right now is, frankly, absurd.

Right now Jim Harbaugh is the fourth best coach in his own division. Maybe that changes in year four, but in his third year at Michigan Harbaugh is the most overrated coach in college football.

Those are pretty harsh words from Travis, but he does make some truthful comparisons. So, at least he wasn’t just slamming Harbaugh without any factual data.

You can read more of his criticism here.

After losing to Michigan State, Harbaugh is now 1-4 against the Wolverines’ biggest rivals — the Spartans and Ohio State — and ESPN’s Football Power Index has Michigan as an underdog in games against Penn State, Wisconsin and the Buckeyes. If that were to play out, Harbaugh would finish his third season in Ann Arbor at 8-4.

Is Harbaugh overrated? Or is Travis too critical of a coach who’s won 10 games in each of his first two season at Michigan?
