Colin Cowherd believes Michigan has made a strong case to be the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff over Georgia.

Assuming Georgia and Michigan both win their respective conference championships, the battle for the No. 1 seed will likely be between Michigan and Georgia. Both have strong cases for No. 1, but Cowherd believes Michigan’s ability to win without Jim Harbaugh on the sideline gives it the edge over the Bulldogs.

“Let’s just say its Georgia and Michigan and they both win out,” Cowherd said on The Colin Cowherd Podcast. “Could I not make the argument that Michigan’s ability – it’s the duality of life, you’re weakness becomes your strength — Michigan’s ability to win two huge games without their coach on the sideline would make me say Michigan’s actually No. 1. That in a weird way, it would get them the No. 1 seed over Georgia.”

Obviously both teams will need wins this week in the SEC and Big Ten Championships, but the race for No. 1 is going to be an interesting one. The CFP selection show will take place on Sunday after conference championships have wrapped up.
