The Week 1 showdown between Michigan and Washington has been labeled as the “Game to Watch” by FOX Sports radio host Colin Cowherd.

Talking about some of the best games ahead for the 2020 college football season, Cowherd said the Week 1 showdown between the B1G and Pac-12 powers will be can’t-miss television. He also believes it’s critical for the Wolverines to start the season 1-0 as Jim Harbaugh enters his sixth season with the program.

Starting strong is the best way to start pursuing a conference title.

“Urban Meyer is now out of the (B1G) for a second year,” Cowherd said. “They have to find a new quarterback at Michigan. Christian McCaffrey’s brother Dylan is the leading candidate to be quarterback and people are saying this is the best athlete, this is the guy. This is Harbaugh’s Andrew Luck at Stanford.

“Washington’s got a new coach. That means that have a new system which is Washington is beatable. Michigan’s more of the national program. In the Big Ten, this is a major misstep if Harbaugh loses out-of-conference to start the season at $8 million a year, the howling starts for Harbaugh. This will be (the game to watch) on a sunny, Seattle fall afternoon.”

Michigan finished the 2019 season with a 9-4 record. The Wolverines will have to make a bunch of changes offensively, with quarterback Shea Patterson gone, a brand new offensive line and Donovan Peoples-Jones and Tarik Black no longer in the wide receiver room.

It should be a fun matchup that could set the tone for how the 2020 season goes for both programs.
