Michigan has typically hosted GameDay when Ohio State or another Big Ten rival is in town. But on a few occasions, GameDay has been on campus to watch Michigan face off against a nonconference opponent. There have been 4 previous instances of Michigan facing Notre Dame with GameDay there.
In addition to Notre Dame, Ann Arbor has hosted GameDay while Michigan was facing Colorado (1997) and Washington (2002) in nonconference play.
This will be the 40th time College GameDay has been present for a game that Michigan is playing in — as either the host or visitor. That’s the 5th-most all-time.
The legendary Lee Corso is expected to be on hand in Ann Arbor for Saturday’s show to give his patented headgear pick. ESPN says Corso is 10-5 all-time when picking Michigan to win.
Saturday’s game against the Longhorns is sure to have College Football Playoff implications for both teams. Texas enters this game as a 7-point favorite at most sportsbooks despite Michigan’s status as the defending national champions.
This will be the first-ever meeting between Michigan and Texas on a campus. The only previous game in this series was at the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1, 2005. Texas won that game 38-37.
