Colston Loveland has been a major piece for Michigan‘s offense for the past 3 seasons. Now, the game-changing tight end is off to the 2025 NFL Draft, he confirmed in a social media announcement.

“I want to thank everyone who has supported me and been alongside me throughout this journey,” wrote Loveland. “I wouldn’t be here without each and every one of you…

“To the University of Michigan, thank you for embracing me an dmaking my time in Ann Arbor unforgettable. This truly is the best University in the world.

“After careful consideration and discussions with those who have supported me, I have made the decision to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft.”

The move, though expected, is still a massive blow for the Wolverines. Even with Michigan’s spotty quarterback play this season, Loveland led the team with 56 receptions for 582 yards and set career-high marks with 5 receiving touchdowns and 58.2 yards per game.

Injuries limited Loveland to 10 games this season, but he still more than doubled Michigan’s 2nd-leading receiver (Tyler Morris with 248 receiving yards). He was a regular red-zone threat and matchup nightmare for opposing defenses.

As a freshman, Loveland came on strong down the stretch, including a 45-yard touchdown grab in a dramatic win over Ohio State. In his sophomore campaign, Loveland had 2 touchdown catches against Michigan State and 88 yards receiving against the Buckeyes, 2 key wins for the Wolverines.

This past season, Loveland reached 70+ receiving yards 4 times, including a career-high 112 yards in a loss to Oregon. He finishes his career with 117 catches for 1,466 yards and 11 receiving touchdowns and will have a claim to be the top TE in Michigan history.

Listed at 6-foot-5 and 245, Loveland has the pre-requisite size to be a matchup problem at the next level. He also has elite hands and impressive open-field running.

If Loveland tests well (as expected) during the pre-draft process, he should be squarely in the mix to be the top TE selected in the 2025 NFL Draft.
