Colston Loveland ruled out for remainder of Michigan's game vs. Arkansas State
Colston Loveland has been Michigan’s best receiving threat and arguably the most important piece of the offense to begin the season. Unfortunately, he has been ruled out for the remainder of the Arkansas State game, and it’s unclear what that might mean for the Wolverines moving forward.
In the first half of Saturday’s game, Loveland went down hard and left the field to be tended to. He would open the second half on the field but was quickly removed from the action and taken to the locker room after one tackle.
After spending some time in the locker room, Loveland returned to the sidelines but without his shoulder pads and helmet. The broadcast crew announced Loveland’s status had officially been downgraded to out in the 3rd quarter, meaning he would miss the remainder of the Week 3 contest.
Needless to say, Loveland’s status will be a major topic of conversation heading into Week 4. Michigan has a commanding lead over Arkansas State, but there are some concerns associated with the overall offensive performance.
Davis Warren attempted 14 passes in the game against Arkansas State but still managed to throw 3 interceptions. Alex Orji has since entered the game in the second half, presumably to play the rest of the way and see what he brings to the table, but the offense will need a spark at quarterback, especially if Loveland is not in the attack for any time at all.
