Connor Stalions has formally resigned from his staffer position at Michigan after he was identified through an investigation as a person of interest for his alleged role in conducting in-person scouting and sign-stealing tactics for the program.

The Athletic acquired the statements from Stalions and his attorney regarding his resignation.

“As he informed the school earlier today, Connor chose to resign because recent stories regarding his time at the University of Michigan have created a distraction for the team,” The attorney said. “He hopes his resignation will help the team and coaching staff focus on tomorrow’s game and the remainder of the season.”

The attorney added that Stalions emphasizes that Jim Harbaugh and his staff had no involvement in any wrongdoing.

“Connor also wants to make it clear that, to his knowledge, neither Coach Harbaugh, nor any other coach or staff member, told anyone to break any rules or were aware of improper conduct regarding the recent allegations of advanced scouting,” The attorney said.

In his statement, Stalions expressed his pride for being able to work with the Wolverines.

“I love the University of Michigan and its football program,” Stalions said. “And I am extremely grateful for the opportunity I’ve had to work with the incredible student athletes, Coach Harbaugh, and the other coaches that have been a part of the Michigan football family during my tenure.”

Stalions claims this decision is to aid No. 3 Michigan, who is vying for a Big Ten title and national championship.

“I do not want to be a distraction from what I hope to be a championship run for the team, and I will continue to cheer them on,” Stalions said.
