Dan Mullen reveals Heisman finalists predictions, includes B1G star
Dan Mullen is predicting a number of races heading into the 2023 college football season, and he included his picks to become finalists for the Heisman Trophy Tuesday afternoon.
To no surprise, reigning Heisman winner Caleb Williams is included on Mullen’s list. The former college head coach also noted Archie Griffin as the only player to win the award twice with other players coming close but voters “haven’t let it happen” since.
Mullen also included Michigan running back Blake Corum, UNC quarterback Drake Maye and Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. as his 4 finalists. Each player on Mullen’s list was a top-10 finisher for the Heisman a season ago with Corum finishing 7th in voting despite a season-ending injury. Penix and Maye finished 8th and 10th, respectively, for the award.

Mullen’s list is far from surprising with Williams leading the Heisman odds at +450 entering the season. Corum — despite being healthy entering the season — comes in at +2800 for the award and could be a value play for fans this fall. Corum finished the 2022 season with over 1,400 yards and 18 rushing touchdowns while averaging just under 6 yards per carry. Provided his health holds up this fall, Corum has a great shot to produce another dominant season for Jim Harbaugh’s program and could wind up in New York for the Heisman ceremony.
