Desmond Howard shares high praise for Jim Harbaugh's hiring of DC Mike Macdonald
Michigan and Michigan State are just a day away from squaring off for the Paul Bunyan Trophy.
Both teams are 7-0 (4-0 B1G play) this season. Michigan is the No. 6 ranked team in the country, and Michigan State is the No. 8 ranked team.
ESPN’s College GameDay crew is in East Lansing, MI for the colossal matchup between the Wolverines and the Spartans.
Desmond Howard, one of the GameDay analysts, is a former Heisman Trophy winner for the Wolverines. He praised head coach Jim Harbaugh for the hiring of Mike MacDonald as the defensive coordinator.
Desmond Howard on Mike Macdonald:
“I thought he was a really good hire by Jim Harbaugh.. Good hire to get the defense in the right direction.”

Harbaugh hired Macdonald away from his brother John Harbaugh. Macdonald was previously on John’s Baltimore Ravens coaching staff.
The Wolverines have been stellar on defense this season. They have only allowed more than 20 points once, and that was to Nebraska when Michigan won 32-29 in Lincoln.
Michigan has not allowed any of its other opponents to exceed 17 points.
The Wolverines and the Spartans square off at noon ET on FOX.
