Desmond Howard is all about Michigan, and for good reason. Howard was a star for the Wolverines back in the day, and he has carried that love of his alma mater into his broadcasting role on ESPN’s College GameDay.

Throughout his time on the show, Howard is known to pick Michigan to win at any point possible, sometimes riding with the Wolverines against heavy odds in tough situations. While Saturday’s game vs. USC is not the toughest situation Michigan has ever encountered, the program is a home underdog after a rocky start to the season.

In fact, there are enough question marks facing Michigan in Week 4 that Howard picked against his beloved program on GameDay. That sent his co-hosts into a tizzy with shocked reactions throughout.

“With Colston (Loveland) kind of questionable and a quarterback change, I think there’s just too much going on right now in Ann Arbor,” said Howard. “I think the Trojans walk away with the victory over Michigan.”

“Whoa” and “Wow!” were some of the reactions from Howard’s GameDay counterparts, but Kirk Herbstreit was especially concerned. He left his post at the far end of the table away from Howard to check in.

“Are you okay? Are you alright?” questioned Herbstreit. “Never seen that!”

Howard was not alone in picking USC, but it was not a consensus among the co-hosts. Blake Shelton and Lee Corso still expect Michigan to handle business at home while Nick Saban, Pat McAfee and Kirk Herbstreit are riding with USC.
