Donovan Edwards saved some of his best performances for the end of the season. He also did his best work after halftime in each one.

After running for more than 200 yards against Ohio State, Edwards was turned to once again with Blake Corum out for the season entering the B1G Championship. Though he was not largely effective in the first half, he came out on fire in the third quarter.

Edwards torched Purdue’s defense with a 60-yard run on the first play after the break and never looked back. When it was all said and done, Edwards finished with 25 carries for 185 yards and a touchdown. That was enough for the RB to be named the 2022 B1G Championship Game MVP.

Asked what it means, Edwards took time to give a shout-out to Blake Corum. Corum was unable to make the trip after receiving knee surgery, and Edwards recognized Corum’s shot at the Heisman prior to the injury.

“We’re back-to-back champions, shout out to Blake Corum,” said Edwards. “He’s the best running back in the country. If he didn’t get hurt he would have easily won the Heisman.”

While Corum’s shot at the Heisman remains to be seen, Michigan knows they will need to ride Edwards in Corum’s absence the rest of the way. So far, Edwards is more than up to the task.
