Donavan Edwards is looking to continue making stamens in Michigan’s backfield as the season progresses after he’s carried the ball 187 times for 1,202 yards with 10 touchdowns in his career.

Over the weekend,  Edwards carried the ball 16 times and totaled 70 all-purpose yards during a win over East Carolina. Though he did not meet expectations, the way that he performed was still above the average standard.

As the Wolverines prepare to face UNLV, Edwards had some interesting comments to share about running backs coach Mike Hart. The former star RB and piece of Jim Harbaugh’s staff will handle the head coaching duties in the second half of Week 2.

Edwards mentioned he recently saw some of Hart’s highlights from a 2007 game against Penn State:

“We watched the Penn State game in 2007. He is hilarious. He knows the situation. I’ll give you an example,” said Hart. “So they ran probably a gap scheme, right? And it’s like two minutes left, under two minutes, probably like 19 seconds left. They’re rallying down to score. And he’s so hilarious. He gets the ball sees the man. He was like, ‘Do I got to bounce? Nope!’”

Edwards then noted Hart made a move that would likely get any current RB “chewed out.” Edwards even poked at the size of his RBs coach but admitted Hart “had some jukes in him” as a player.

“He stayed in bounds, made a man miss, then he got out of bounds — which is hilarious, because if we did that, we might get chewed out! I watched the Michigan tribute that he had. And this dude can play,” Edwards said. “He had some game, you know? You wouldn’t think a little short dude like him has game. But that boy had some jukes in him. Speed? Nah! No speed for him.”

How this progresses for Edwards will be something to watch.
