Drake Nugent’s transfer recruitment had a lot to do with former Michigan center Olu Oluwatimi. Nugent left Stanford for the transfer portal and visited Michigan during the recruitment process.

Nugent watched Oluwatimi play during the visit and spoke to the former Michigan center. Nugent stated that he wanted to come to Michigan and be a part of the offensive line afterwards. Nugent has loved every part of his Michigan experience so far.

Like Oluwatimi, Nugent is a veteran player who began his career elsewhere before entering the program. For Oluwatimi, he began his career at Virginia before an award-winning 2022 season with the Wolverines.

Nugent played in 12 games at center during his final season at Stanford in 2022. If Nugent is anything like Oluwatimi, the Michigan faithful will have no problems accepting the OL transfer.

Oluwatimi took home plenty of hardware last season. He won the Rimington Award, Outland Trophy, and was part of the Joe Moore winning offensive line at Michigan.

Oluwatimi now plays for the Seattle Seahawks. He was selected in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Can Nugent live up to the standards set by Oluwatimi at Michigan?
