Michigan’s 2019 recruiting class took a major blow on Saturday night.

5-star defensive back and the top-ranked safety in the 2019 class, Dax Hill, announced via Twitter that he’s decommitting from Michigan and has given his verbal pledge to Alabama.

Hill is a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma and is the top player out of Oklahoma. Overall, he’s No. 8 in the 2019 recruiting class.

“This was a tough decision for me and my family but I have decided to decommit from the University of Michigan and flip my commitment to the University of Alabama,” Hill said on Twitter.

Hill gave his commitment to the Wolverines in mid-September but had a change of heart recently. He was the highest-ranked prospect in Jim Harbaugh’s 2019 class.

Before Hill’s decommitment, Michigan had the B1G’s top-ranked recruiting class and the seventh best nationally. Hill was the only 5-star recruit in the class.

Alabama has the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class for 2019.
