Ernest Hausmann explains move to Michigan after debut season at Nebraska
Transfer linebacker Ernest Hausmann is expected to be a key contributor on defense as Michigan makes a push for another B1G title.
The former Nebraska player was regarded as the No. 1 linebacker in the transfer portal, according to 247Sports.
When Nebraska fired Scott Frost and parted ways with interim head coach Mickey Joseph in favor of Matt Rhule, the sophomore believed it was the perfect opportunity to test the waters. Hausmann soon realized the chance to join Michigan was his best shot at fulfilling his dreams.
“I chose to come to Michigan because I felt like this place was going to maximize my potential. This is the best fit for me.”

“I chose to come to Michigan because I felt like this place was going to maximize my potential,” Hausmann said. “This is the best fit for me.”
The 6-foot-2, 237-pound Hausmann amassed 36 solo tackles and a sack in his lone season with Nebraska. Hausmann played at The Big House last season and vividly recalls the raucous atmosphere, so he’s looking forward to receiving support from the fans.
“Yeah, it’s gonna be a surreal moment honestly, the first time walking down there,” Hausmann previously said to USA Today. “It’s gonna be a lot of flashbacks. Looking back to it, I can remember exactly the path I took walking down that tunnel. (Doing it wearing) the maize and blue, it’s gonna be just an awesome moment. Can’t wait!”
