ESPN’s FPI updates odds Michigan finishes the season undefeated entering Week 5

ESPN’s FPI has been predicting the 2022 college football season, and the system has since updated the odds of Michigan rolling to an undefeated season.
Entering Week 5, the Wolverines are 4-0 and have been dominant for much of that time. With a balanced offense led by QB JJ McCarthy and RB Blake Corum and a talented defense, Michigan is looking to get back to the B1G Championship after winning the conference title in 2021.
Unfortunately, the Football Power Index still sees Michigan as the No. 2 team in the B1G East. Heading into Week 5, the FPI is giving the Wolverines just a 4.3% chance of winning out in the regular season. The model also gives Michigan just a 19.1% chance of winning the division.

Here’s the remaining schedule for the Wolverines:
- Oct. 1 at Iowa
- Oct. 8 at Indiana
- Oct. 15 vs. Penn State
- Oct. 29 vs. Michigan State
- Nov. 5 at Rutgers
- Nov. 12 vs. Nebraska
- Nov. 19 vs. Illinois
- Nov. 26 at Ohio State
This weekend will not be any walk in the park with a tough trip set for Iowa City. While the Hawkeyes remain unranked, getting a win in Kinnick Stadium is no easy task.
A tough visit from Penn State in the middle of October and the annual rivalry finale against Ohio State are other matchups that could prove interesting down the road.
