ESPN's Heather Dinich not yet sold on Michigan as a national title contender
ESPN’s Heather Dinich broke down Michigan’s hot start recently during Wednesday’s airing of “Get Up.” Dinich admitted a lot of folks are high on the Wolverines through Week 5 of the season, but she’s not quite ready to label Michigan a serious contender.
“Not yet. Look, everyone loves Michigan and I’m trying to figure out why,” Dinich explained. “They haven’t done it against anybody yet. They look good, you can make a case for them being in the top four. JJ McCarthy at QB is outstanding, Blake Corum has been outstanding.
“But to me, down the stretch, let’s see them beat Penn State, let’s see that game against Ohio State.”
Though Iowa was unranked, Michigan is coming off of a solid road win in Kinnick Stadium. However, it is true that the Wolverines do not yet have a win – or game played – against a ranked opponent in 2022.
Michigan definitely will get a chance to make its case with a much better level of competition in October and November. We’ll see if Jim Harbaugh’s squad is up to the task in the near future.
