Who said Jim Harbaugh couldn’t shake up the SEC?

On National Signing Day, Michigan made a loud splash in the heart of SEC country. Five-star defensive tackle Aubrey Solomon didn’t choose Alabama or Georgia.

Instead, he picked Michigan.

Solomon made that announcement live on ESPNU on the network’s National Signing Day show.

The Leesburg, Ga. recruit is the No. 2 defensive tackle and No. 25 player in the 2017 class. Along with No. 1 wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones, Michigan has two five-star recruits committed for 2017.

Solomon’s announcement came after a whirlwind recruitment.

Originally, Solomon committed to the Wolverines after Michigan hosted a satellite camp in Georgia. That changed after he received a thank-you letter from Michigan for attending a recruiting barbecue that he wasn’t at. Solomon then opened up his recruitment.

A month ago, video surfaced of Solomon sharing his displeasure of Michigan. But he quickly apologized and included Michigan in his final four.

Two weeks ago, Harbaugh had an adventurous in-home visit with Solomon. With his daughter and other Michigan assistants in attendance, Harbaugh must’ve made a lasting impression in Georgia.

That marked the second straight year in which Michigan landed a five-star defensive tackle. Last year, the Wolverines got a commitment from No. 1 overall recruit Rashan Gary.

Solomon’s commitment gave the Wolverines an even better chance to finish with a top-three class. He’ll join a defensive line that figures to be one of the best in the country with Gary and Co.

Michigan’s Signing of the Stars event will be streamed live on the Players’ Tribune.
