Former Michigan DL likely out for season following training camp injury
Maurice Hurst Jr. had a strong start to his NFL career after coming out of Michigan. Unfortunately, he has since battled injury issues, and Hurst’s 2022 season might be over before it even starts.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed Hurst tore his bicep in a practice Friday. That injury likely requires surgery and makes Hurst’s status unlikely for the regular season.

The injury is certainly a big blow to Hurst and the 49ers. After appearing in 40 games across his first 3 NFL seasons, Hurst was limited to 2 games in 2021 before dealing with this preseason injury.
Hurst had 76 tackles, 8 sacks, 17 QB hits and a forced fumble from 2018-20. Since then, injuries have taken a toll and limited his productivity. Hopefully he is able to recover and return to make an impact in 2023.
