Former Michigan quarterback Shea Patterson was the first overall selection in the 2022 USFL Draft. He was selected by the Michigan Panthers on Tuesday night.

Patterson will be starting his USFL career in the same state where he finished his college career. After spending two seasons with Ole Miss, he transferred to Michigan, where he was a two-year starter for the Wolverines.

Patterson started in all 26 games he played in while at Michigan in 2018 and 2019. He threw for 5,661 yards and 45 touchdowns with just 15 interceptions and a 60% completion rate over two seasons. Patterson also rushed for 323 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Michigan was 19-7 with Patterson under center during his two years in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines’ league record was 14-4, including an 8-1 mark in 2018.

While at Michigan, Patterson was a two-time third-team All-B1G selection.
