Rick Neuheisal isn’t the biggest fan of Jim Harbaugh.

Their “rivalry” dates back to the days when both coaches were in the PAC-12, Harbaugh coaching at Stanford and Neuheisal at UCLA. And because of Harbaugh’s reactions every time the Cardinal knocked off the Bruins, Neuheisal grew to dislike the animated coach.

But Neuheisal knows a good coach when he sees one and he’s not buying into this “overrated” talk.

Recently, CBS Sports ran a survey, asking current FBS coaches who they believed was the most overrated head coach in the sport. Harbaugh received 13 percent of the votes, the highest total of any other mentioned.

“You can’t not admire what he’s accomplished at every stop along the way,” Neuheisal said, according to 247Sports. “He has changed the culture at each and every place in unbelievable quick order.”

“Again, we talk about college football royalty being at their best is good for college football. Jim Harbaugh is fantastic for college football. And here’s why coaches vote like that — because they’re tired of having him in the headline. It’s jealousy. It’s 100 percent jealousy because he’s thinking outside the box. They don’t like it, they want it to change, they think it’s ridiculous.”

Pretty strong words for a guy who really doesn’t care much for the Michigan head coach. But he makes strong points.

Harbaugh took a Michigan team that won just five games in 2014 and has rattled off 20 victories in the span of two years. He’s raking in some of the top recruiting classes in the country. And yes, he’s great for college football.

Even though Neuheisal isn’t the biggest fan of Harbaugh, he certainly understands just how talent he is as a head coach.
