Raylen Wilson, one of the top linebackers in the 2023 cycle, decommitted from Michigan Tuesday.

“I want to thank Coach Harbaugh and the whole Michigan staff for welcoming me with open arms, but at this time I would like to step back from my commitment and explore my options a little more,” Wilson said via Twitter.

This could be looked at through a few different lens from a Michigan fan’s perspective. For one, the move comes just a day after the Wolverines signed another 4-star linebacker prospect, Mason Curtis. The No. 2 player in the state of Tennessee picked the Wolverines over Michigan State, Kentucky and South Carolina.

Wilson has been committed to Michigan since December 8, 2021. He’s considered to be the No. 5 linebacker in the nation and the No. 73 overall player per 247 Sports Composite rankings.
