Greg McElroy predicts Jim Harbaugh will leave for NFL in 2023
Former Alabama quarterback and current host of Always College Football Greg McElroy predicted Thursday that Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh will be taking an NFL job for next season.
Similar rumors have already run rampant following Michigan’s Fiesta Bowl loss to TCU last Saturday. And this is not the first time; such rumors have been present since he first moved from the San Francisco 49ers to the B1G in 2015.
McElroy explained why he thinks Harbaugh will pull the trigger in 2023 Thursday morning.
“I think Jim Harbaugh is going to the league,” McElroy said. “I think he flirted with it last year, said no way I’m doing it again, he double stamped his legacy at Michigan by backing up what was an amazing performance in 2021, did it again in 2022. People doubted them, said they won’t be as good as last year, they won’t be able to replace those defensive ends. Not only did they come back, I think they were better. If he gets the opportunity to go to a place like Indianapolis, potentially team up with Derek Carr who has probably played his last game with the Las Vegas Raiders, if he gets an opportunity to go and do that, how could you blame him for taking that up?”
