Greg McElroy is out with his latest edition of “Always College Football” and has further proved that Jim Harbaugh lives for football.

Shortly after McElroy retired from football and started to get into broadcasting, Harbaugh approached the former quarterback at B1G Media Days. Harbaugh seemed perplexed that McElroy had finished playing the sport for good.

“‘Ah, so Greg you’re done playing, huh? You’re not playing anymore?’ I told him I love college football and it’s not as hands on as coaching and I have a little bit more flexibility,” said McElroy. “He looked at me and as dry and direct as you can be and said, ‘Oh, so you don’t like football?’ I said, ‘No, I love football. Football’s amazing, coach. What are you talking about?’ I work in football. I’m a broadcaster, but I work in football.”

Harbaugh then shared his philosophy on playing and coaching. It’s apparent that the Michigan head coach is the ultimate football guy.

“He then said, ‘You love football if you play football and when you’re done playing and you can no longer play, then you coach. If you don’t coach, then you die.’ He is all ball,” said McElroy. “He is all about ball. You play as long as you can. You coach as long as you can, then you die.”

Michigan will face Washington in the national championship on Monday. It’ll be interesting to see if Harbaugh’s love for football will be enough to take home the college football crown.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
