Greg McElroy likes the position that Michigan is in so far. The Wolverines are 2-0, and haven’t faced a B1G team yet.

While Michigan is off to a good start, it’s worth noting that its 2 wins are against Colorado State and Hawai’i. UConn should reveal some things now that J.J. McCarthy is QB1.

“Yes, I think Michigan looks excellent, albeit Hawaii and Colorado State,” said McElroy. “The teams they’ve played against are a combined 0-5. We don’t know anything about Michigan right now, and we’re not going to learn anything about them in Week 3 (vs. UConn).”

He also brought up how the B1G East is looking at the moment besides Ohio State. Michigan State, Maryland, and Illinois are off to very good starts as well. The Terps will be Michigan’s conference opener on Sept. 24.

“Either way, you look at what they’ve done so far, good job. I think Michigan’s in a really good spot, but Michigan State has looked pretty dang good. Maryland has at times revved their engines. I think Illinois has a chance to make a little noise in the week leading up to Ohio State. You want to play Illinois in the 2nd-to-last game of the season?”

At the end of the day, he gave the B1G some credit. McElroy thinks that the B1G is deeper than he first thought at the beginning of the season. Minnesota, Illinois, and Wisconsin are all teams to watch out for in the B1G West.

“I think the B1G’s a little deeper than I originally thought, and I think that’s a testament to the coaching staffs that have been put together.”
