Jim Harbaugh is doing everything in his power to win a national title.

His global marketing of Michigan football is evidence of that. The Wolverines’ unprecedented spring trip to Italy was something he believes will help the Michigan brand reach the next level.

Even with all of Harbaugh’s efforts, though, he still asked for some good fortune while in Rome.

Harbaugh, while at the world-famous Trevi Fountain, wished for a national title after throwing a coin in:

Wolverine fans could argue that luck wasn’t on their side down the stretch last year, and that bad bounces derailed a possible national title run. Harbaugh is hoping to end Michigan’s 20-year drought without a championship.

For now, he’s a bit more focused on the sights and sounds that Italy has to offer.

As for the plan on Wednesday, Michigan was expected to visit the Vatican for a service from Pope Francis. Harbaugh was hoping to have he and wife, Sarah’s youngest son, John, baptized during the visit.

Eventually, Michigan will play some football later in the week. Perhaps the Wolverines will lay the groundwork for Harbaugh’s wish to come true.
