Hot seat cooling? College football insider gives update on Jim Harbaugh
Jim Harbaugh entered the 2021 season on the hot seat after a difficult 2020 campaign. However, Michigan has rebounded impressively, rising to No. 9 in the nation thanks to an undefeated start.
Michigan is coming off a 38-17 victory at Wisconsin in Week 5 and has a road contest at Nebraska this weekend.
The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman gave his opinion on what he believes the current status is for Harbaugh at the midway point of the season:
No, he hasn’t beaten Ohio State yet, and his record against top-15 teams is not good at Michigan, but his offseason staff shake-up to bring in younger assistants with some new ideas and energy has really paid off. Michigan is 5-0 and just hammered Wisconsin in Madison. The Wolverines have an identity on offense and are playing well on defense. The schedule gets harder from here, but a 10-2 or 9-3 record this season seems very realistic. His 54-22 record with four top-20 seasons in his six years in Ann Arbor is stronger than many give him credit for considering how much Michigan struggled over the previous decade.
Nebraska routed Northwestern 56-7 last weekend. Michigan leads the all-time series 5-4-1 vs. Nebraska. Michigan won the last meeting with a dominant 56-10 victory at home in 2018.
Kick off vs. the Huskers is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
