Michigan fans worried about this Saturday’s game against Nebraska might take comfort in knowing  there are some numbers on their side this weekend. Some really impressive numbers.

On Saturday, the 19th-ranked Wolverines will take on the Huskers in Ann Arbor. The matchup will be the B1G opener for both teams. And if history tells us anything, it’s that Michigan is almost a guaranteed winner.

Thursday morning, Michigan’s official Twitter account tweeted out two incredible statistics: The Wolverines have won 11 of their last 12 B1G openers, and 47 of the previous 50.

In other words, Michigan is winning 94 percent of its B1G openers.

Granted, some of Michigan’s tougher opponents — like Ohio State and Michigan State — are scheduled for later in the year. Still, it’s a really impressive number.

Michigan’s last loss in a conference opener came in 2014 to Minnesota. The Wolverines finished that season 5-7.

Jim Harbaugh is a perfect 3-0 in B1G openers since taking over in 2015. He’s defeated Maryland, Penn State and Purdue in his first three seasons in Ann Arbor.

Nebraska and Michigan haven’t played since 2013, but the Huskers are on a two-game winning streak vs. the Wolverines. The all-time series is locked at 4-4-1.
