Michigan sophomore defensive lineman Aubrey Solomon suffered a knee injury in the Week 1 loss to Notre Dame, and will be out for an extended period of time, according to Josh Henschke of 247 Sports.

Solomon hinted on his private social media accounts last week that he underwent knee surgery, although he is not expected to be lost for the season, according to the report by Henschke. No specifics on the injury have been released.

Solomon racked up 18 total tackles in his freshman year for Michigan, and his injury will deliver a blow to Michigan’s defensive line depth going into its Week 3 matchup hosting SMU.

Solomon is a Georgia native, and was the No. 2 overall defensive lineman and No. 23 overall recruit in the country in the Class of 2017.
