Another Wagner is headed to Ann Arbor.

On Saturday, the University of Michigan basketball team announced that Franz Wagner, the younger brother of former Wolverine Moe Wagner, will be joining the program this season. The international basketball star had been weighing his options, deciding between playing at the college level or staying with his Alba Berlin team in Europe until he was eligible for the NBA Draft.

Wagner is a talented international player who is considered to be a quality scorer. At 6-foot-9, he will give the Wolverines great size and a perimeter player. According to MLive.com, Wagner would be around one of the to 50 players in the recruiting class if he had been evaluated.

“Franz gives us another talented guard with size who possesses a wonderful basketball IQ and a growing skillset that could be impactful for us right away,” Howard said in a statement.

Moe Wagner played at Michigan from 2015-18 and led the team in scoring and rebounding his junior year. He helped guide the Wolverines to the national championship game in 2018 before declaring for the NBA Draft.
