You knew the questions would be asked, but Josh Ross wasn’t having it. The linebacker is tired of hearing the claim that Michigan “waved the white flag” to avoid playing Ohio State in 2020.

Monday, head coach Jim Harbaugh and players from Michigan met with reporters to talk about Saturday’s monumental showdown between the Wolverines and Buckeyes. To the winner goes the B1G East title, a trip to Lucas Oil Stadium and a chance to solidify a spot in the College Football Playoff.

But before talking too much about the game ahead, Ross was asked about last year’s cancelation. He admitted that not being able to play Ohio State “sucked,” according to Angelique Chengelis of the Detroit Free Press.

Because of a COVID-19 outbreak and the B1G’s cancellation policy, the Wolverines were forced to cancel each of their final 3 games, including the clash with Ohio State. Many thought — because Ohio State was 5-0 and Michigan was 2-4 — Jim Harbaugh’s team backed out of an embarrassing loss.

Ross said that wasn’t the case.

“It’s BS to be honest with you,” Ross said. “As a Michigan Wolverine, that’s a game you die for.”

Saturday’s game between Michigan and Ohio State is a highly-anticipated one. Both teams enter the game with a 10-1 record and are searching for a chance to win a conference championship.

It reminds most of the 2016 and 2018 games — both Ohio State victories.

The Wolverines are attempting to snap an 8-game losing streak to the Buckeyes. It sounds like Ross and his team has a little more motivation this season after all the criticism from 2020.
