J.J. McCarthy makes incredible NIL gesture for the Michigan offensive line
Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy is getting creative with his name, image and likeness deal.
McCarthy, who has the “J.J. For the Kids Foundation,” which gives back to kids in the Chicagoland area and Ann Arbor through children’s hospitals in recent months. Now he’s contributing to some of his teammates, arguably the most important for him.
McCarthy is associated with M Den, and is giving proceeds from jersey and memorabilia sales to the offensive line.
McCarthy appeared in 11 games last season under center and completed 34-of-59 pass attempts for 516 yards with 5 touchdowns and 2 interceptions with 124 yards rushing and 2 scores.
McCarthy is dealing with an injury to his right throwing shoulder, but is expected to be ready for fall camp in August.
“J.J.’s doing great. He’s rehabbing, he’s doing what he’s supposed to do,” quarterbacks coach and recently promoted co-offensive coordinator Matt Weiss told reporters on Wednesday, per M Live. “I think discretion is the better part of valor in this case.”
A little announcement, GO BUY McCarthy Jerseys from the MDen!!!Because… For every dollar I make from the jersey sales will be distributed to the true heroes, my offensive line! https://t.co/LpETYiLysn

McCarthy is practicing, but limited, as he’ll eventually compete with Cade McNamara — Michigan’s No. 1 quarterback during its 2021 Big Ten championship season — for the starting job.
