Michigan had a comfortable Saturday afternoon as they strolled to a victory against the Western Michigan Broncos 47-14.

As Michigan started to pull away, the backups started to see more playing time. Almost all of Michigan’s scoring plays came from chunk plays. This throw from QB J.J. McCarthy was another example of that.

McCarthy on the day was 4-6 for a 66% completion rate for 80 yards and a touchdown on the day.

McCarthy is a 6-foot-3, 190-pound QB out of La Grange Park, IL; He played for IMG Academy in high school. He was a 5-star recruit in the 2021 class, nationally he ranked as the 25th best player, 5th best QB and the 6th best in Illinois. According to 247sports composite ranking.

Michigan plays 5 AP Top-25 opponents this season.  With their first  test being against No. 20 Washington next weekend.
