A Michigan offensive lineman is off the board.

Friday night, offensive tackle Jalen Mayfield was selected in the third round of the NFL Draft. He was taken by the Atlanta Falcons with the No. 68 overall pick. Mayfield was also the first offensive player out of Michigan to be selected and was the program’s second pick of the event, behind defensive end Kwity Paye.

Paye was taken No. 21 overall by the Indianapolis Colts in the first round.

Mayfield is a 6-foot-5, 320-pound offensive tackle who received a wide range of grades during the draft process. Some had him as high as a late first-round selection while others pegged the former Wolverines as a second- or third-round pick.

Mayfield does have a limited amount of tape, playing in just 18 career games at the college level. However, he was able to make a really quick impact and carve out a big role for himself in Ann Arbor, making 15 starts.
