Jalen Rose had some not-so-flattering words for Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon after last week’s incident between the Terrapins leader and Michigan head coach Juwan Howard.

In the second half of the second round of the B1G Tournament game between Michigan and Maryland, Turgeon and Howard exchanged words across the court out of a timeout. After that, Howard attempted to storm the Terps’ sideline but was restrained by officials and assistant coaches.

Howard was assess two technical fouls and ejected from the contest. During a podcast interview this week, Rose stood up for his Fab Five teammate.

“I was just like, ‘Ignore that little weasel.’ To be honest, that’s what I said to him,” Rose said. “And that’s not a word I normally use, but it seems to fit. And the reason why I say that is because he’s been dismissive of Michigan and our program since Juwan got there.”

After the game, Turgeon said he told Howard “Don’t talk to me,” and that was all that was really said. Howard’s recollection is that Turgeon charged at the Michigan bench, which prompted Howard’s reaction.

The spat didn’t cost Michigan its focus or the game. The Wolverines defeated the Terrapins and advanced to the semifinal round of the B1G Tournament.

Michigan earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and will play the winner of Thursday night’s game between Mt. St. Mary’s and Texas Southern on Saturday.
