Jalen Rose didn’t want to admit it, but he’s reached a point where he can’t ignore Ohio State’s success. With the Buckeyes winning their seventh straight game in the head-to-head series against Michigan, the former basketball star has come to a conclusion.

Ohio State is just more talented than Michigan.

The Buckeyes have dominated the series as of late, with the Wolverines winning just one game against their rival since 2004. And Saturday, with Michigan a favorite headed into Saturday’s game in Columbus, Rose’s alma mater laid another egg, falling 62-39.

Rather than just accept another loss, Rose wanted to do a little research as to why the Buckeyes have been so much better than the Wolverines lately. And he found the primary reason.

“Since 2004, we’ve beaten them one time. I’m giving Ohio State all the credit they deserve,” Rose said on Get Up!. “These guys are really talented, particularly when I’m watching football on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays.

“I was trying to do the research on why Ohio State [is so dominant] and the Buckeyes have 83 to Michigan’s 57 since 2004. First-round picks? 23 to 8. Defensive backs? 15 to 4. I hate to admit it, but they’re just more talented.”

Talent makes a world of difference. Typically, if two teams are fairly evenly matched, the best player on the field is enough to tilt the scales. On Saturday — and for nearly two decades now — Ohio State has had the best player(s) on the field.

Harbaugh has done an excellent job on the recruiting front since arriving in Ann Arbor, but he’s clearly still got some catching up to do.
