Jay Harbaugh, former Michigan assistant, reportedly pivots to new NFL team
Jay Harbaugh is on the move again, and instead of heading to the Los Angeles Charges with his father, the former Michigan assistant has reportedly landed with a new NFL team. Harbaugh was previously expected to join his father, Jim, with the Chargers.
The Seattle Seahawks are set to hire Harbaugh to be the special teams coordinator, according to multiple reports, including Matt Zenitz of 247Sports. Harbaugh will be reunited with ex-Wolverine colleague Mike Macdonald in Seattle.
Harbaugh was Michigan’s longest-tenured assistant coach as he was in his ninth season with the Michigan staff in 2023. He was in his fourth season as the team’s special teams coordinator and is in his second season working with the safeties.
The Seattle job will be Harbaugh’s second in the NFL. From 2012-14, he worked with the Baltimore Ravens as offensive quality control coach.
