Jesse Minter has Michigan’s defense on fire in the Rose Bowl, giving Jalen Milroe plenty of nightmares throughout the first half.

Alabama did score an early touchdown in the ground game, but that score came on a short-field situation after a muffed punt. Outside of that drive, the front of Michigan’s defense has been getting after the quarterback and terrorizing the Crimson Tide offense.

Milroe is undoubtedly a bit shell-shocked against the Wolverine defense, and that is clear in Alabama’s total offensive performance. The Tide started the game 1-for-5 on 3rd down with just 2 first downs and 4 punts on their first 5 drives of the game.

The Alabama offense would get something going on the final drive of the half, but another sack — Michigan’s 5th of the half — put an end to it on 3rd down. The Crimson Tide would kick a field goal to make it 13-10 with 7 seconds left, but the Wolverines are right where they want to be at the break.

Here’s a glimpse at how Minter and his unit have impressed those watching the Rose Bowl:
