Jim Harbaugh is looking for his first Playoff win at Michigan, and the Wolverines are halfway to the finish line.

At halftime of the first College Football Playoff semifinal game at the Rose Bowl, Michigan led Alabama 13-10. The Wolverines held the Crimson Tide under 100 yards of offense in the opening half and sacked quarterback Jalen Milroe five times.

Michigan went three-and-out on the first drive of the game and then a muffed punt delayed the start of Michigan’s second possession. Still, the Wolverines largely controlled things because the line of scrimmage belonged to the Wolverines.

Harbaugh met with ESPN’s Holly Rowe at the end of the first half and was asked to assess the play of his team in the trenches.

“Really good,” he said. “I love the three-and-outs we’ve gotten on defense. Putting pressure on the quarterback and we’re covering on the backend pretty darn well.”

Milroe was pressured constantly in the opening 30 minutes and, at times, the Alabama offense looked completely confused as to where Michigan was going to come from.

Five different Wolverines had sacks.

The Wolverines weren’t exactly prolific on offense — two three-and-outs in five possessions — but they didn’t give up a sack and ran for 5 yards a carry.
