Jim Harbaugh has been credited with 2 wins over Penn State and Maryland despite the wins coming during his 3-game suspension, per a report from CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd.

The decision was institutional. Michigan informed the NCAA on Wednesday that it had decided to credit Harbaugh’s record for the final 3 games of the season, all 3 of which he will be suspended. That means that the win over Penn State and Michigan’s 1,000th win in program history against Maryland will be on Harbaugh’s record. Michigan’s game against Ohio State on Saturday will also go towards his record.

Michigan was given the option to decide who would be credited for the games, and it elected Harbaugh. While serving his suspension, Harbaugh is allowed to coach throughout the week, but can’t be on the sidelines during games. Offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore has served as head coach during his suspension.

Earlier this season when Harbaugh was serving a self-imposed 3-game suspension, the wins were credited to the assistants serving as the head coaches for those games — defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, run game coordinator Mike Hart, special teams coordinator Jay Harbaugh and Moore.
