Jim Harbaugh and Willie Taggart go way back.

When Taggart was a prized quarterback prospect, Harbaugh recruited to Western Kentucky to play for his father, Jack. When Harbaugh landed the head coaching job at Stanford he brought Taggart along to be his running backs coach.

So it’s no surprise that Harbaugh was proud of his former assistant when he was named the next head coach at Oregon. The Michigan head coach shared his congratulations on Twitter:

Taggart has been the head coached at his Alma Mater, Western Kentucky, before becoming the leader at South Florida. In seven seasons at both schools, he’s tallied a 40-45 record but became a hot commodity after leading the Bulls to a 10-2 year in Tampa.

Oregon named Taggart the head coach on Wednesday.
