Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan Wolverines are preparing to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Rose Bowl. For the 3rd season in a row, the Wolverines are in the College Football Playoff.

Much of that success can be attributed to quarterback J.J. McCarthy. At the Rose Bowl press conference on Sunday morning, Harbaugh was asked how his QB has changed over the last year.

“Grow would be the better word,” Harbaugh declared. “Just phenomenal in everything that he does. I would call it growth.”

McCarthy has improved in every season for the Wolverines. The QB has a higher passer rating in 2023 than he’s ever had, and has 1 fewer interception than last season.

“Better today than he was yesterday, better tomorrow than he was today,” Harbaugh explained. “It’s fun to be around, it’s infectious. It rubs off on everybody.”

McCarthy has 2,630 passing yards, 19 TDs and 4 INTs in 2023. The QB led the Wolverines to a perfect regular season and will now look to keep their momentum going in the College Football Playoff.

The Wolverines have a tough task ahead of them, playing the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day. If the Wolverines can get through the Tide, they will face the winner of Washington and Texas in the National Championship Game.
