Jim Harbaugh knows everything that goes into being a “Michigan Man” and one of the program legends in Ann Arbor. While the head coach acknowledges he does not have the right to bestow that honor on another individual, he did nominate someone at his Monday press conference.

That individual is Sherrone Moore, the team’s offensive coordinator and revered offensive line coach who recently led the program as acting head coach. Moore led the team for 4 games in Harbaugh’s absence this season, but none was bigger than The Game against Ohio State.

During his press conference, Harbaugh provided a glowing review of Moore’s calls against the Buckeyes and added a special nomination.

“Coach Sherrone Moore called a great game. Coached the offensive line, and made the decisions as the head coach. I’m not saying that I’m in a position of granting who a Michigan Man is or isn’t, or who a Michigan legend is or is not,” said Harbaugh. “(I’m) not the maker of those two lists, but I have nominated people before, and I nominate Sherrone Moore as a Michigan legend.”

Harbaugh might not have the power to bestow that distinction, but he’s bound to get plenty of support with the nomination of Moore. It has been the work of Moore with the offensive line that helped spark Michigan’s turnaround in 2021, and the program responded with him as acting head coach in 2023.
