Jim Harbaugh not backing down from lofty goals for Michigan in 2022
Following a memorable 2021 season, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh hopes to accomplish more goals with his team in 2022.
Michigan won the B1G Championship and reached the College Football Playoff. The Wolverines lost some key contributors to the 2022 NFL Draft, but they returned many impactful pieces to the defense and offense.
Since Michigan had a season to remember, Harbaugh wants to achieve even more this season than the program did last season. His program’s goals begin with beating Michigan’s two biggest rivals in the same season:
“Our goals would be to beat Ohio State and Michigan State in the same year, win the B1G Championship and win the national championship. Those are our 4 goals,” Harbaugh said.

The last time Michigan beat Ohio State and Michigan State in the same season was 2003 when Lloyd Carr was the head coach. Michigan lost to Michigan State by four points in 2021, but the Wolverines managed to upset Ohio State in the final regular season game of the season.
Based on Harbaugh’s lofty goals for his team, they would repeat as B1G Championship winners and are looking for a second consecutive win over Ohio State. Michigan came close to winning a national championship last season before they lost to Georgia in the College Football Playoff.
This will be an important season for Michigan to build off of the success from 2021.
