There’s a reason to be cautiously optimistic about Chase Winovich’s availability next week.
During Saturday’s game against Indiana, the Michigan defensive lineman exited the game early after suffering an injury. Winovich walked off the field on his own power, but immediately walked to the locker room and didn’t return to the contest.
After the Wolverines posted a 31-20 win over Indiana, head coach Jim Harbaugh was asked about the injury to Winovich. It sounds like there’s a good chance the senior lineman will be on the field next week against Ohio State.
Harbaugh told the media that Winovich’s X-rays were negative and that he “thinks we’re in a good place there.” However, the head coach was not ready to confirm anything.

Winovich has been spectacular on the Michigan defensive line all season. The senior has recorded 51 stops, 12 tackles for loss and four sacks this fall.
Thanks in large part to his efforts, Michigan’s defense has been the best in the country in several statistical categories.
Both the Wolverines and Ohio State enter next weekend’s game at 10-1, with the winner headed to Indianapolis for a spot in the B1G Championship Game against Northwestern.
Needless to say, Winovich’s availability will be a huge factor in the game.
