Jim Harbaugh is back in the mix for NFL head coaching jobs, and he completed his first interview with the Denver Broncos on Monday.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Harbaugh’s initial interview was conducted virtually and lasted for over two hours. Coming out of the interview, Pelissero reports Harbaugh is “a top candidate” alongside former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton.

“Sides spoke I’m told for over 2 hours. Harbaugh of course put out a statement last week saying that while things can change, I expect to be back enthusiastically coaching Michigan in 2023,” said Pelissero. “But, it’s no secret Harbaugh has been weighing his NFL options for weeks. He now has emerged as a top candidate in Denver.”

While the Broncos might have Harbaugh and Payton at the top of their list, the team still has other interviews to conduct in the process. We will find out if the top of Denver’s list changes throughout the process, or if Michigan steps up with a new big-time contract for Harbaugh.
