Jim Harbaugh searching for first-ever win in Kinnick Stadium during Michigan's Week 5 road trip
Jim Harbaugh has not had much success winning games in Kinnick Stadium as a player and a coach at Michigan.
This has been a difficult place for Harbaugh to win games at and he wants to rewrite history against Iowa. Harbaugh is 0-3 all-time in games at Kinnick Stadium.
Harbaugh played at Michigan from 1983 to 1986 and went to Iowa twice in 1984 and 1985. Michigan lost both games. In 1984, Michigan was shut out by Iowa and then the Wolverines lost by 2 points, 12-10, in 1985.
He has not had great luck on the road against the Hawkeyes. As Michigan’s coach, his 1st and only game at Iowa happened in November 2016. At the time, Michigan was the No. 2 team in the country and Iowa pulled off a 1-point upset.
That was a shocking upset loss for Michigan as they were campaigning for a College Football Playoff bid. With regular season losses to Iowa and Ohio State in 2016, Michigan had to settle for a New Year’s Six bowl appearance against Florida State.
As a program, Michigan’s last win in Kinnick Stadium came in 2005. Michigan is 0-4 at Iowa since 2005. Harbaugh will look to get his 1st win at Iowa. Fortunately, Michigan handled Iowa in last season’s B1G Championship Game in Indianapolis.
Michigan will be on the road at Iowa at 12 p.m. ET.
