Jim Harbaugh’s discussions with the Denver Broncos remain ongoing, according to a report.

Per Pro Football Talk, there’s still a “lingering possibility” that Harbaugh will end up in Denver. “Sleep with one eye open on that one,” a source reportedly told Pro Football Talk.

This would contradict multiple statements from Harbaugh and Michigan’s administration alluding to his return for the 2023 season. This is the 2nd consecutive offseason that Harbaugh has spoken extensively with NFL teams.

Earlier this month, Harbaugh released the following statement after telling Michigan president Santa Ono that he intended to return for next season:

“I love the relationships that I have at Michigan. Coaches, staff, families, administration, President Santa Ono and especially the players and their families. My heart is at the University of Michigan. I once heard a wise man say, ‘Don’t try to out-happy, happy.’ Go Blue!”

Harbaugh has prior experience in the NFL. He was the coach of the San Francisco 49ers from 2011-14 and led the franchise to a Super Bowl appearance. Overall, he went 44-19-1 with 3 division titles during his time with the 49ers.

The Broncos are looking to replace Nathaniel Hackett, who was fired after 1 season.
